Figs & Ginger

Figs got their start in the ‘indie craft scene” back in 2003 selling through their temporary brick-n-mortar shop called Share An Umbrella. Since then they decided to focus on their own work and start silver smithing away. Figs officially was named and began selling in December of 2006.
We use traditional methods of silver & metal-smithing, each piece is either forged, sawed, or cast from sterling silver unless otherwise noted.
For the past couple years we have been making earth friendly changes within our business and personal life. This was not because it was ‘the in thing’ but because we began to educate ourselves about the state of our earth, and started thinking about raising children. We love our earth and want them to have a chance to appreciate it as we do. So we needed to change a lot, and we have.

Love the look, simplicity, and earthy theme of these pieces.  They’re all super cute, as is the couple behind this company and I think it’d be great to support earth friendly duo.

Campfire

We are three graphic designers/illustrators/printmakers who are looking to spread state and city pride worldwide! We are all from somewhere and it’s time we show some hometown pride! We’ve always felt that there are three main areas of concentration in our shirts…Good Typography, Good Design, and Good Humor!

Love their city pride t-shirts and many of their other designs.  They’re clever.  Go amuse yourself by looking through them all. :)

Fernworks
Each piece of jewelry encases a real found object or painted scene in resin. Each little leaf, twig, or other object is individually cast in layers of resin, hand-cut and polished, and every painted piece is hand drawn in acrylic and ink. They are all one-of-a-kind and handmade with love in small batches.   You can always be sure that your Fernworks pendant is your very own and like no one else’s!
With so many beautiful little objects, it will be so hard to choose which one I get. I love how each piece is a little tiny piece of art. Love them all.  Want them all.

MuggyTuesday

MuggyTuesday is a partnership of two sisters, Margaret (aka Muggy, but only to her sister) and Sarah (aka Tuesday, to everyone but her sister), who live and craft together in Chicago, Illinois. We love our adopted hometown, and reflect that by choosing product names representing neighborhoods and streets in Chicago.
Margaret learned the traditional crafts of crochet, knitting and cross-stitch as a child and has been creating with varying levels of obsession ever since. Sarah came to appreciate these crafts later, having earlier explored interests in photography and ceramics. During our crafting sessions together, we began collaborating on pieces that combined our creative interests. We especially enjoy finding new and unexpected uses of materials and application of concepts.
We are inspired by the natural world and our everyday environment. We endeavor to make conscious choices with the materials we use for our handiwork. It’s our hope that the joy we feel when creating an item is shared by you when it arrives in your home.

These items are so pretty and delicate looking that I immediately fell in love with them. I’ll totally be adding one of those lovely headbands to my life in the near future!

Handmade Spotlight

So because I love going to craft fairs, seeing all the lovely and new ideas people are coming up with I decided that I will be sharing some of my favorites with you.  It will give these talented people a little free advertising as well as become a wonderful resource when I’m searching for the perfect gift for someone.

The first one will be posted shortly!

Edit:  I will try to spotlight a new crafty artist every Tuesday.  We’ll see how well I can hold to this goal, hope you enjoy!
